Febroary Challenge 2021

Febroary list of wild cats.

Febroary day 0
Kodkod cat lives in Chile and Argentina.
It is the smallest cat in the Americas.

This was a little warm up before the challenge started.

Febroary day 1
- European Wildcat.
Native to continental Europe

Febroary day 2.
- Jaguar

Native to the Americas.
The jaguar is third largest of cat species in the world.

Febroary day 3.
- Fishing cat

They are a medium sized cat, living in South and Southeast Asia.

Febroary day 4.
- Serval

They are native to Africa.
The Serval has the longest legs of any cat relative to its body size.

I love them so much I couldn't pick one to draw! I found a picture of the lovely couple and had to make it into a family.

Febroary day 5.
- Pallas's cat

They live in various places like Himalayas, South Siberian Mountains, Iranian Plateau and a couple more counties.

Febroary day 6.
- Bobcat

This one was a lot of fun to do! I love creating these family moments .

They are native to North America.
Bobcats have a stubby or bobbed tail from which the name originates from.

Febroary day 7.
- Andean mountain cat
They are native to the high Andes and are listed endangered.

Febroary day 8.
- Leopard (Panthera pardus)

Happy Leopard family!

They are one of the five extant species in the Panthera genus.
Live in a wide range around the world. The fur is marked with rosettes.

Febroary day 9.
- Sand cat (Felis margarita)

They live in sandy and stony deserts far from water sources.

Febroary day 10.
- Bay cat (Catopuma badia)
This wild cat is extremely rare and lives on the island of Borneo.

Febroary day 11.
- Canada Lynx (Lynx canadensis)
These North American lynx live mostly across the ranges of Alaska, Cabada and northern areas of the America.
They have very fluffy paws!

Febroary day 12.
- Puma / Cougar
Bit later today but here it is.

Febroary day 13.
- Flat-headed cat (Prionailurus planiceps)

They are a small wild cat native to Thai-Malay, Peninsula, Borneo and Sumatra. It is an endangered species.

Febroary day 14.
- Lion (Panthera leo)

This one took me a little longer but I'm happy with the results!

They live mostly in sub-Saharan Africa, and their groups are called prides.

- Eurasian Lynx (Lynx lynx)

Native to Northern, Central and Eastern Europe to Central Asia, Siberia, the Tibetan Plateau and the Himalayas. Mostly in Temperate and boreal forests.

Febroary day 16.
- Ocelot (Leopardus pardalis)

Native to southwestern United States, Mexico, and Central South America, as well as the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Margarita.

- Black-footed cat (Felis nigripes)

They are the smallest wild cat in Africa.

Febroary day 18.
- Asian golden cat (Catopuma temminckii)

Fun fact the scientific name honours a Dutch zoologist.

- Caracal (Caracal caracal)

Native to Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia and India.

Febroary day 20.
- Snow leopard (Pantgera uncia)

Native to the mountain ranges of Central an South Asia. They are listed as vulnerable and have been estimated to have a population of less than 10.000.

The Snow leopard is my favourite felidae.

- Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus)

They are endemic to Iberian Peninsula and are listed endangered.

- Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus)

They are large cats native to Africa and Central Iran. The cheetah is the fastest land animal in the world.

- Leopard cat (Prionailurus bengalensis)

They are a small wild cat native to continental South, Southeast, and East Asia.

Febroary day 24.
- Clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa)
They are native to the dense firests of the Himalayas, Southeast Asia, southern China.
From among the other cats they are ine if the most talented climbers.

Febroary day 25
- Tiger (Panthera tigris)

They are the largest extant cat species!

I see stripes everywhere! Draw a tiger, it will be fun they say, and I was like aww lets create a family of 4! I love the result but damn what a work!

Febroary day 26
- Margay (Leopardus wiedii)
They are a small wild cat native to Central and South America. They are very good climbers too!

Febroary day 27
- Jaguarundi (Herpailurus yagouaroundi)
They are native to the Americas.

I found these a bit trickier to colour than for example the spotted snd striped wild cats.

Febroary day 28!
- Domestic cat (Felis Catus)

Today a special family, my own cats! Eventhough two of them have already passed away, I still wanted to include them.
